HALO

Halo is an AI agent that runs on the machine in front of you. The premise is that an assistant with access to your files, your work and your habits should not be shipping any of that to a third party in order to be useful.

That constraint decides most of the architecture. Models run locally, which means working within whatever the machine can actually hold rather than assuming a datacentre on the other end of an API call.

The result is an assistant that is less capable in the abstract and more useful in practice, because there is no category of work it is inappropriate to hand over.
